1961 Topps Dice Game Mickey Mantle PSA Poor 1. If you weren't aware this card even existed, you're far from alone. Experts have called it the rarest of all Topps test issues, a fact substantiated by a quick trip to the PSA population website. You'll see that nineteen specimens from the entire issue have been sealed in a PSA slab at the time of this writing, and just two featuring the mighty Mick.

It might take you a little while to spot the reason for such a seemingly harsh assessment, but the answer lies along the upper border where you'll find two small holes. Since this set was never issued to the general public, it would appear likely that the card was stapled by Topps staffers as they worked upon the ultimately abandoned project. As such, the punctures should be considered inherent to the production process and forgiven for that reason. Our catalog imagery should properly convey that the card would gain quite a few points in their absence, as it is otherwise registered and centered well, and exhibits only minor corner wear.

But, of course, its staggering scarcity is the primary appeal here, even more than the glorious vintage that recalls the thrilling hunt for Babe Ruth's home run title that Mantle shared with Roger Maris, and the World Series sweep of the Cincinnati Reds that followed. Rarer than even a PSA Gem Mint 10 1952 Topps, this is a relic certain to identify the most dedicated collector of Mantle cardboard.
