If you're not familiar with this trading card issue, don't feel too guilty about it--Berk Ross never enjoyed the notoriety of Topps and Bowman, who dominated the market in the first decade of the post-war era. But today that relative scarcity tilts the market metrics of supply/demand toward the bulls, and while we would never make predictions about what the future might hold, it's a simple matter to research the steady rise of Berk Ross prices over the past decade.
As a regional issue distributed from its Big Apple headquarters, Berk Ross didn't skimp on the locals, and even left Joltin' Joe DiMaggio in the mix despite his retirement before the 1952 season began. But his center field successor earns "key card" status in the set by a wide margin. While Mantle leads all others among approximately 6,000 PSA submissions of this issue, only two autographed example appears in that population. The only other example sold at Heritage in August 2023 for nearly $200,000 while this example is graded PSA FR 1.5 with a bold blue marker autograph that is certified and graded PSA/DNA Auto 10.
